Bear Market Riot — www.bearmarketriot.com
Bear Market Riot is the “Power-Folk” duo of Kirk Nordby and Nick Motil. Formed in 2014 on the Central Coast of California, their energy and blend of tones from folk to funk resonates with audiences of all ages. They are two heartfelt bearded voices singing in harmony playing four instruments with their hands and feet, telling tales of adventure, equality, and romance. They’ve opened for the Brother’s Comatose, Fruition, The Lil’ Smokies, Horseshoes and Hand Grenades, and Nicki Bluhm. As emcees for the annual Whale Rock Music Festival in Templeton, California, and frequent guests on Krush 92.5, they’re earning a reputation as energetic hype-men. Bear Market Riot is the two-time New Times readers poll pick for “Best Band in SLO County”.
“Power-Folk Americana”, their first full-length album, is set for release with Spectra Records in early 2019. Self-produced with the funding they secured through a successful Kickstarter campaign, the album tells spirited stories of relationships and our place in the social fabric. With tight harmonies and a driving beat, Motil and Nordby is a duo greater than the sum of its parts.
GhostMonster — http://www.ghostmonsterband.com/
Ghost\Monster is an alternative acoustic rock group based out of the Central Coast of California, they cover all genres of guitar-based rock. Singer\Guitarist Nataly Lola, a Central Coast native, has been performing in the area for over 15 years. Guitarist\Singer Jaxon Camaero, an East Coaster turned Angeleno, has been playing in bands all over the country before finally discovering the beauty of SLO and it’s neighboring cities.
Kevin Graybill — https://www.kevingraybill.com/
Kevin Graybill is an acoustic Indi-Folk singer/songwriter originally from Seattle, WA, but as of recently, now resides in SLO. He has a smooth voice that’s often compared to Jack Johnson and Sam Beam of Iron and Wine. Though comparable to others, he has a style of his own most recently described by an audience member as a “reggae version of Barry White.” In addition to several originals, expect an eclectic handful of covers at his shows ranging from artists like Blackstreet, JJ Cale, Bobby McFerrin, and Cyndi Lauper.
Hamish Anderson — http://www.HamishAndersonMusic.com
After being named one of Yahoo! Music’s “Top Ten Best New Artist,” Australia’s roots rock artist, Hamish Anderson performed 11 sets during SXSW (2017) opened for Vintage Trouble, Jared & The Mill, Low Cut Connie and toured the US as well as appeared at US festivals such as Firefly, Echo Park Rising, Mountain Jam, High Sierra, Big Blues Bender, Summerfest, Telluride Blues & Brews Festival (MainStage on Saturday and opened for Drive-By Truckers late night) and Canada’s RBC Bluesfest Ottawa. He was featured as a Taco Bell “Feed the Beat” artist and KCRW’s Morning Becomes Eclectic with his single, “U”, which was profiled also on NPR Music’s Heavy Rotation along with his entire album, Trouble (debut album). In 2018, NPR also profiled Hamish’s album a year after it was released on Here & Now/DJ Sessions via Anne Litt from KCRW. This year he has completed a recording of his second album; released the first single (No Good), did a 3-week festival tour in Europe, performed at Bottlerock Napa and is about to embark on a North East Fall Tour. He will end the year by opening for Doyle Bramhall II at a sold-out show in LA on 11/17.
Austin Ellis — https://www.austinellismusic.com/
By the time Austin was asked by NBC in 2014 to be on Season 6 of The Voice, he had already written and produced two studio albums by himself before deciding to audition. Austin, after being chosen by Maroon 5’s Adam Levine during the blind auditions, was partnered with Josh Kaufman to create one of the season’s most memorable moments by singing the hit “Happy” by Pharell Williams. The training and coaching Austin received during his experience on the show has taken his talent and career to an even higher level! Raised on Blues, Soul, Gospel, and Rock n Roll, Austin earned a degree in Songwriting and Music Business from the nation’s top Entertainment Industry Program at Middle Tennessee State University in Nashville, TN. Hailing from North Beach, Maryland, Austin has toured the US, Europe, and Australia and performs more than 150 shows per year.
Austin captivates listeners with his powerful voice and by his warm acoustic style. Influenced by the soulful delivery of Bill Withers and laid back strumming of Jack Johnson, Austin Ellis invites audiences to relax and enjoy the music.
Bogey’s Surf Rock —
Birthed from Cal Poly students and Whole Foods workers, The Bogeys provide a new type of alternative sound. Living in San Luis Obispo, the crew is heavily influenced by the central coast culture. This is identified in their music as they reminisce on the synth sounds of the 80’s, while paying homage to 60’s surf rock. In early 2017, The Bogeys have made a name for themselves by playing at notable venues such as SLO Brew, The Siren, and the Bacon & Barrels festival at Madonna Inn. The band has future tour dates planned for the entire west coast awaiting the release of their debut album scheduled for 2019.
Additionally, several gourmet food trucks will be on-site offering a variety of choices to include: organic farm-to-truck dishes, BBQ & sides, specialty kabobs, crepes, smoothies, acai bowls, juice, and several coffee vendors. Additionally, Firestone Walker Brewing Company and 15C Wine Bar will host tastings and spirits throughout the weekend.
